Scott Carr, an All-South Coast League linebacker from Mission Viejo High, has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy, Diablo football Coach Bill Denny said.

Ken Walker has been appointed girls’ athletic director at Santa Ana High. Walker was associate athletic director under Frank Alvarado, who will continue as boys’ athletic director.

Cal State Fullerton’s Greg Jacobs was among three county players selected to the All-West Region first team by the American Baseball Coaches Assn.

Jacobs, a junior designated hitter/pitcher from Canyon High, was joined on the first team by UCLA junior outfielder Eric Valent (Canyon High) and USC senior pitcher Seth Etherton (Dana Hills).

Fullerton pitcher Benito Flores, a senior who attended El Dorado High, was named to the second team.
