* Wild Weekends at the Los Angeles Zoo--Tales of the meerkat, left, who stands lookout, will be part of all-day festivities Sunday at the zoo in Griffith Park.
* Dog Shows--More than 1,500 canines will compete in the Kennel Club of Pasadena-sponsored event Saturday and Sunday at Brookside Park, Seco and Arroyo boulevards.
* Wiener Nationals--Dachshunds will compete in 50-yard dashes between regular races Saturday at Los Alamitos Race Course to benefit the Seal Beach Animal Care Center.
