Police Seeking Man in Break-Ins, Sexual Assaults

Share

Long Beach police are searching for a man who, sometimes wearing nothing but a mask and a pair of gloves, has broken into the homes of six women and sexually assaulted two of them in Belmont Shore and Naples during the last year.

In the latest attack, the suspect struck twice over Memorial Day weekend, police said. On Sunday, a 79-year-old woman in Naples awoke on her couch about 11:30 p.m. to find a man standing over her, Long Beach Police Cpl. Harry Erickson said. As the woman began struggling, the intruder fled.

As police scoured the area, the suspect broke into the nearby home of a 29-year-old woman as she slept, Erickson said. When she began screaming and struggling with the naked intruder, he again fled.

The suspect has sexually assaulted women on two occasions, Erickson said.

In all six attacks, the suspect has targeted women living alone and has entered homes through unlocked doors, Erickson said.
