Parris Tosses No-Hitter Against Lancaster

Matt Parris pitched a no-hitter for Quartz Hill-Paraclete in a 4-0 victory over Lancaster in an American Legion District 20 baseball game Saturday at Lancaster High.

Parris struck out six and walked four batters for Quartz Hill-Paraclete (1-0), which scored four runs in the first inning.

Robert Fockaert had three hits for Quartz Hill-Paraclete.

Lancaster dropped to 0-1.

In other games:

Newhall-Saugus 13, Saugus 1--Travis Richardson was four for four, including a fourth-inning, two-run double, and drove in four runs in a District 20 game at Saugus High.

Jamie Shields (1-0) pitched four innings to earn the victory for Newhall-Saugus (1-0). Justin Babin (0-1), who relieved starter John Bourg in the third inning, was charged with the loss.

Tri-Cities 12, Antelope Valley North 2--Jason Kubel had a single, double, home run and two RBIs in a District 20 game at Highland that was called after six innings because of the 10-run rule.

Jon Anello and Brandon Golphenee each added two hits for Tri-Cities (2-0).

Agoura 3-0, Ventura 2-3--Nick Hillman scored the winning run on a passed ball with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning of the first game of a District 16 doubleheader at Agoura High.

Brian Jacobson was four for six over two games and drove in five runs. Jacobson had four doubles, including three in the second game, for Agoura (1-1).

Santa Susana 10-5, Conejo 2-0--Tony Ortega and Andy Karp each had two hits and two runs batted in during the opener of a District 16 doubleheader at Royal High.

Brandon Voorhees had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs in the second game for Santa Susana (2-0).

Ortega and John Whipp each had two hits in the second game for Santa Susana.
