A New Section for Your Life

Welcome to Southern California Living, The Times’ new lifestyle section.

Each day we are committed to bringing you a timely and compelling look at the lives of Southern Californians. With stories, profiles and photographs, we’ll cover the topics of family life, issues important to women, working, values and giving to the community.

New to the section on Thursday is Home, the place to come to for features on interiors, gardening and remodeling. Fashion and beauty coverage moves to Friday. In addition, we’ll be bringing you expanded books coverage on Wednesday.

Southern California Living, which will run Sunday through Friday, also includes a new subsection called Section Gee!--the place to find the daily comics, the horoscope, Dear Abby and Ann Landers, Joyce Brothers, Laugh Lines, Roy Rivenburg’s Off-Kilter column and some new features: a crossword puzzle and the bridge column. On Saturday, the comics, horoscope, crossword and bridge will be found in Calendar.

We will also have a new, full-page feature for children--The Kids’ Reading Room. The centerpiece is a six-part serialized story with a cliffhanger each day that children can read themselves. The page also includes news and features for kids as well as puzzles and interactive games.

In addition, we’ll bring you:

* Page 2, a must-read that will feature short items about Southern California trends, news and gossip, as well as Irene Lacher’s Out & About column.

* A columnist each day: Sandy Banks on Sunday and Tuesday, Whatever Works--a first-person column on our working lives--on Monday, Chris Erskine on Wednesday, a bonus Hot Property column on Thursday and Fashion Police on Friday. You’ll also find Hot Property on the cover of the Sunday Real Estate section.

* A new, contemporary, easier-to-read design that includes an expanded index to make navigating the inside pages easier.

We hope you enjoy.
