UCLA’s Davis Not Ready to Scrimmage

Share

UCLA guard Baron Davis will be held out of basketball scrimmages for at least another week after strength tests showed Thursday that he has not fully recovered from an injury to his left knee last season.

The sophomore, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in an NCAA tournament victory over Michigan in March, has been participating in layup and fastbreak drills but has yet to practice against teammates.

“We’ll monitor him closely,” Coach Steve Lavin said. “Instead of worrying about next week or next month, we have to look at the next 15 years of his life.”

Davis will be tested again next week. UCLA begins nonconference play Nov. 19 against Santa Clara.
