PARTICIPATION SPORTS

* WOMEN’S SPORTS CONVENTION: The “Oshman’s Women and Sports” day of activities will be at three sites between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Includes appearances by 34 current or former top athletes from a wide array of sports. Elite athletes will be available for pictures, autographs, panel discussions and will lead sports instruction clinics. Also included are monetary grant award ceremonies. The sites are La Habra (1531 West Imperial Highway), West Covina (1531 West Covina Highway), Irvine (101 Technology Drive, Pavilion West).

* RUNNING/WALKING: The Los Angeles County Race for the Cure, benefiting programs to combat breast cancer, starts and finishes at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. First 5K run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. A health and fitness exposition is open from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

* Minnie Ripperton 5K run, 10K run and 5K walk to benefit the American Cancer Society. Registration is $15 and the race starts at 8 a.m. at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Details: (213) 386-6102.
