A Leisure Village couple, who died within four months of each other earlier this year, have bequeathed $50,000 to the Camarillo Family YMCA.
Alice and Howard Hinig lived in the Camarillo senior complex from 1990 until Howard’s death in March and Alice’s death in July.
YMCA officials said the Hinigs, who had no children, will be able to help youngsters in the community through their donation.
The Camarillo YMCA provides activities for local children, including basketball leagues, family Indian Guide programs and on-site child care at Dos Caminos and Las Posas elementary schools.
YMCA officials said the gift will help build a new recreation center and establish an endowment for staff training scholarships.
