A group of students learning Japanese at Los Alamitos High School will get a firsthand look at the culture and language of Japan when they travel there on a field trip this summer. The group of five to 10 students in Japanese levels 1 to 4 will travel throughout the country, stopping in Tokyo, Kyoto, Mount Fuji and other areas, and meet with Japanese families and students, according to Assistant Supt. Carol Hart. This is the second year the trip has been organized by Japanese teacher Kimie Matsumoto. The students will pay their own costs, about $1,800 each, for the two-week trip in late June, Hart said.
