Paparian to Enter Race for New Mayoral Post
Pasadena City Councilman William Paparian announced Thursday that he would run next year for the city’s newly created position of elected mayor.
Paparian, who represents District 6 in east Pasadena, joins Councilman Ann-Marie Villicana in the mayor’s race. Mayor Chris Holden, a Paparian friend and ally, is also expected to run.
Paparian, an attorney, has served as Pasadena’s ceremonial mayor for two years and is in his third term on the council.
He has drawn some controversy in recent years for making numerous trips to deliver medical supplies to a Cuban children’s hospital.
