SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The City Council recently adopted an ordinance that would allow current owners of more than three dogs to keep them, an exception to city code.
The three-dog restriction would continue to apply to new owners.
According to city officials, dog owners might have been forced to give up their fourth and fifth dogs, but the new ordinance will allow them to keep the extra pets until the animals die. The Municipal Code provision will still restrict the number of dogs per household to no more than three over the age of 4 months.
