Krista Charles, the starting setter for the Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball team, has quit the team and withdrawn from the university because of personal reasons, the athletic department announced Thursday.

Charles, a junior from Idaho Falls, Idaho, had played in the team’s first 14 games and ranked sixth in the Big West Conference in assists with an average of 12.39 per game.

Charles transferred to Fullerton this fall from Utah Valley State College. She was the Idaho high school player of the year in 1995.

Junior Allison Anderson was scheduled to move from outside hitter to replace Charles in the lineup for Thursday night’s game at Long Beach State.
