A weekly update on the progress of former Orange County prep athletes now in college.

SAN FRANCISCO STATE SOCCER

* County connections: Melody Derloshon of El Toro, Allison Lubke of El Modena, Kelly Makaipo of Capistrano Valley, Allison Nadler of Edison and Anne Weber of Mission Viejo.

* Worth noting: Derloshon, Nadler and Weber are freshmen goalkeepers. Makaipo is a junior defender and Lubke a junior midfielder who will be a redshirt after being injured. Derloshon has started 10 games, with a 1.56 goals-against average for San Francisco State (5-7-1 overall). Nadler has started three games and is 1-2-0. Makaipo has started all 13 games.

SMU SOCCER

* County connections: Bret Corbin of Mater Dei, Bryan Doi of Laguna Hills, Byron Foss of Santa Margarita, Wade Fraser and Ryan Kenyon of El Toro

* Worth noting: Foss, a freshman goalkeeper, was named Soccer College Weekly player of the week recently for shutting out the country’s top-ranked team, Indiana, and defeating No. 5 Creighton, 2-1, despite SMU playing a man short for the final 83 minutes. He has had two shutouts in the last three matches. Fraser is a sophomore midfielder, Kenyon a freshman defender, Corbin and Doi freshmen midfielders. SMU is 7-3-1.
