Dan Gaston
Saddleback, Sophomore
Cross-Country
Gaston, from Huntington Beach High, has been running up front all season. His latest success came Friday, when he was the first runner from a Southern California community college and third overall to finish at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational. Gaston was second at the Orange Coast Classic, third at the Orange Empire Conference preview race and fourth at the Irvine Invitational also this season.
Cross-Country
Alex Reyes
* Santa Ana, freshman. He finished fifth at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational.
Laurel Kokaska
Golden West, Sophomore
Volleyball
Kokaska, from Long Beach Poly High, had big performances at key times as Golden West, the top-ranked team in the state, remained undefeated. She had 13 kills and 10 digs in the Rustlers’ three-game victory over No. 2 Saddleback Friday in an Orange Empire Conference match. Golden West beat Saddleback twice Sunday in the Tournament of Champions and Kokaska had 26 kills in the two matches.
Soccer
Jane Specht
* Cypress, freshman. She scored four goals as Cypress won twice.
