Share

City officials will begin work Friday on an expansion of Harvard Community Athletic Park to include lighted softball and soccer fields and a 250-space parking lot.

The groundbreaking begins at 9 a.m.

The work will also include upgrades to the snack bar and restroom.

Last week, the city started work on the Col. Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park next to the civic center.

Barber, a longtime Irvine resident, received the Medal of Honor from President Harry S. Truman in 1952.
