Santa Ana, Fullerton Renew Rivalry

Santa Ana and Fullerton meet in the state’s oldest community college football rivalry at 7 tonight at Cal State Fullerton.

It is also the Mission Conference Central Division opener for each team. Santa Ana has won five of the last six games against Fullerton to take a 37-34-4 lead in the series.

Cameron King, a freshman running back, is one of the few bright spots for Santa Ana (0-5). He has rushed for 429 yards in four games.

Fullerton (1-4) has lost 10 players on defense because of injuries but also has been getting solid play from freshman running back Prescott Hill, who has 399 yards in four games.

In other Central Division games:

Palomar (4-1, 0-0) vs. Golden West (0-5, 0-0), Orange Coast College, 1 p.m.--Including Palomar, Golden West’s first six opponents have a combined record of 25-5. But the last four are 2-18.

Saddleback (0-5, 0-0) at Riverside (1-4, 0-0), 7 p.m.--Linebacker Brian Berg leads Saddleback with 70 tackles and linebacker Lawrence Mariners is tops with four sacks.

In the Northern Division:

Orange Coast (3-2, 0-0) at Cerritos (4-1, 0-0), 7 p.m.--OCC quarterback Jared Flint has passed for 945 yards and six touchdowns. Cerritos has the top offense in the 12-team conference, averaging 476 yards a game.
