Stanley Saves San Fernando, 14-10

Bobby Stanley intercepted a pass by quarterback Matt Cassel of Chatsworth High at the goal line as time expired and San Fernando held on for a 14-10 victory in a Northwest Valley Conference game Friday night at Chatsworth.
Chatsworth had two chances in the final minutes to take the lead. Cassel drove Chatsworth (5-2, 2-2 in conference play) to the San Fernando 32-yard line, but Gerardo Rubi batted away two passes in the end zone.
San Fernando (4-3, 1-3), which snapped a three-game losing streak, took over with 1:30 left to play, but the Chancellors regained possession with 43 seconds remaining and drove to the Tigers’ 17.
Major Caldwell of San Fernando rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown in 22 carries. Quarterback Larry Brown ran for 64 yards in eight carries, including a six-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 14-3 lead in the third quarter.
Cassel passed for 237 yards, completing 17 of 32 passes. He threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Lee, who had eight receptions for 119 yards, with 18 seconds left in the third quarter.
