Hebert Won’t Rest Easy

Share

Coach Craig Hartsburg planned to start backup goaltender Dominic Roussel against either the Dallas Stars or St. Louis Blues this weekend, giving Guy Hebert a break.

But after another solid showing from Hebert in a 3-3 tie against Dallas on Friday, Hartsburg wasn’t sure what to do tonight against St. Louis.

On one hand, it would be nice to rest Hebert after seven consecutive starts. On the other, Hebert has been superb.

“I’d like to keep playing,” Hebert said. “I don’t know what Craig has planned and I know it’s early in the year. Well, we’ll see what happens.”

Said Hartsburg: “I’m going to think about it on the plane [to St. Louis]. We are a team and Dominic is part of the team. He’s going to contribute. It’s just a matter of when.”

Roussel stopped 33 of 34 shots in his only start this season, a 1-0 loss Oct. 10 to the Washington Capitals. Hebert did not play against the Capitals because he suffered a separated right shoulder in an Oct. 3 exhibition against Nashville.
