A carjacking suspect who led police on a 19-mile pursuit from Garden Grove to Long Beach and back surrendered early Tuesday when officers used a strip of spikes to blow out his tires, police said.

Galindo Moses, 20, of Santa Ana was arrested at 12:05 a.m. at Magnolia and Trask avenues on suspicion of an Aug. 29 carjacking in La Palma, evading arrest and possession of stolen property, police said. The car he was driving, a 1990 Toyota Camry, was stolen at gunpoint by three men.

La Palma police, who are handling the investigation, said Moses is suspected of participating in the carjacking.

Garden Grove police officers spotted the stolen vehicle on Beach and Garden Grove boulevards and followed it onto the Garden Grove Freeway. The pursuit, aided by officers in a Costa Mesa helicopter, wound through city streets and onto the San Diego Freeway, where officers attempted to pull the car over.

In Long Beach, the suspect turned around and headed back to Garden Grove, police said. Officers placed spikes in the road and blew out three of the cars tires to end the pursuit.

No one was injured in the chase, which lasted 20 minutes and reached speeds of 90 mph.

Moses is expected to be arraigned today.
