Tillotson Answer Earns Plaudits

* I enjoyed reading Haydee V. Tillotson’s Aug. 23 letter of response to the false and politically motivated attacks aimed at her and Dist. Atty. Mike Capizzi by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) regarding Assemblyman Scott Baugh’s alleged violations of state election laws.
Tillotson responded to Rohrabacher’s accusations with facts and without lowering herself to name-calling and character assassination (more than could be said of Rohrabacher).
Rohrabacher’s wife, Rhonda Carmony, and others have pleaded guilty to state election law violations committed during Baugh’s first campaign. All along, Baugh (R-Huntington Beach) has claimed his ignorance of those election laws as his defense. Baugh’s constituents deserve a better assemblyman than an attorney who cannot comprehend the law.
The Orange County Republican machine blackballed Capizzi after he performed his sworn duty as district attorney and prosecuted Baugh. With a new, handpicked district attorney and sheriff coming into office in January, I am certain no Republican candidate will ever be prosecuted again in Orange County, regardless of the alleged offense.
