A Lancaster man killed in a car accident on the Antelope Valley Freeway Thursday was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office Saturday as Jaime Cabrera.

Cabrera, 39, was fatally injured while driving northbound during the afternoon rush hour after his car was struck by a car that veered into his lane from the freeway’s southbound side, according to a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.

The driver of the second car, Gary Michael Konrad, 48, of Palmdale, and two unidentified passengers in Cabrera’s car were seriously injured, officers said. They were taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills and to Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Van Nuys. The hospitals on Saturday were unable to provide the conditions of the accident victims.

An investigation was ongoing and authorities had not determined whether charges would be filed against Konrad, police said.
