Nineteen lettermen return from a group that gave Southern Section Division VIII champion Laguna Hills its toughest playoff game. As usual, Pacifica will have a lot of weapons on offense. Kirkland, who broke his hand last season in the opener, won the quarterback job in the summer over Reis. Craven plans to let Kirkland air out the ball to Simpson (33 catches) and Weber. Tailback duties will be shared by Stern and Leyba. The secondary, led by Simpson and Johansen, is the strength of the defense.
