Taking Steps to Promote Peace

Share

Hundreds of people, including members of church, youth and community groups, will pound the pavement for peace on Saturday.

The fifth annual Walk for Peace is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Triangle Square, at Newport and Harbor boulevards, to promote peace within local communities and around the world, and to raise awareness of other such efforts.

The event, organized by the Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council, Baha’is of Orange County, the NAACP, Amnesty International and other groups, attracted about 350 walkers last year, and more are expected this year.

The mayors of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach will address the participants, and there will also be door prizes, inspirational speakers and music. The event is free.
