Share

Pet owners can have their cats and dogs vaccinated tonight at a low-cost clinic in Moorpark.

Beginning at 7 p.m., officials from the Department of Animal Regulation, working in conjunction with the Ventura County Veterinary Medical Assn., will hold the clinic at the Moorpark Fire Station at 782 Moorpark Ave.

Any cat or dog more than 4 months old can be vaccinated at the clinic for $4, cash only. State and county laws require all dogs and cats more than 4 months old to be licensed and vaccinated against rabies.

Licenses good for one year may be purchased at the clinic for $30 for dogs or cats that have not been spayed or neutered and $10 for those that have. Pet owners must provide written proof of neutering or spaying with the license application.

Failure to obtain a license within 30 days of a dog or cat’s reaching 4 months, acquiring a new pet, establishing residence in Ventura County or of the expiration date of a previous license will result in a penalty.

Moorpark residents unable to attend the clinic may also purchase licenses at the ACS Veterinary Clinic, 173 E. High St.; Town Veterinary Medical Center, 27 W. Los Angeles Ave.; and Moorpark Veterinary Hospital at 484 E. Los Angeles Ave., Suite 104.

Low-cost clinics are also scheduled Oct. 7 in Port Hueneme at the fire station at 304 2nd St. and Nov. 4 in Fillmore at the fire station in the 400 block of Main Street.
