City to Close Street Lanes for Sewer Repair Project

The city is repairing and replacing deteriorating sewer lines on several streets between now and mid-October, officials said Wednesday.
The Sewer Rehabilitation Project focuses on Beverly, Robertson and San Vicente boulevards, said city spokeswoman Helen Goss.
Sewer lines are being replaced and relined to prevent sewer collapses and other problems such as sinkholes, backups and ground water leakage, she said.
Using robotics technology, Sancon Engineering of Huntington Beach has already relined many sewer lines without having to tear up streets, said David Badgley, a Sancon spokesman.
However, residents can expect street construction and blocked-off traffic lanes for the remainder of the project, where severely damaged pipes must be replaced, he said.
Crews will work on San Vicente Boulevard between West Hollywood Park and the Pacific Design Center through Monday. Work will proceed on the following schedule: From Tuesday through Sept. 22 on San Vicente from Melrose to Rangely avenues; Sept. 23-30 on Melrose from San Vicente Boulevard to Norwich Drive; Oct. 1-8 on Melrose Avenue from Norwich to Huntley drives; Oct. 9-16 on Melrose Avenue between Westmount and Westbourne drives.
