Oxnard police arrested two suspected drunk drivers during a sobriety and drivers’ license checkpoint Thursday night.
About 744 cars passed through the checkpoint at Channel Island Boulevard and Victoria Avenue from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., police said.
Three drivers were given field sobriety tests, leading to the arrests of two drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said. Another 13 citations were issued for license violations while eight unlicensed drivers had their cars towed.
The Oxnard and Port Hueneme police departments have joined in efforts to conduct checkpoints at least twice a month through December, authorities said.
