Grand Jury to Take Ramsey Slaying Case

From Times Wire Reports

A grand jury will begin investigating the long-running and contentious JonBenet Ramsey case next week, a Boulder, Colo., city councilman said. The 6-year-old beauty queen was found strangled in her Boulder home Dec. 26, 1996. No arrests have been made, though police say her parents, John and Patricia Ramsey, remain under “an umbrella of suspicion.” Police asked the Boulder district attorney’s office to take the case to a grand jury because the panel has the ability to subpoena witnesses and evidence that may not have been previously accessible. There has been a recent flurry of local media coverage after letters written by a former friend of JonBenet’s father accusing officials and lawyers of dragging their feet on the case were made public.
