Authorities are searching for a young man who robbed a Wells Fargo branch inside a Vons grocery store Monday.

According to the FBI, a man walked up to the branch in the store at 2101 N. Rose Ave. about 2:30 p.m. and passed a note to a teller. He did not display a weapon.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he walked out of the store and, according to witnesses, drove off in a light blue Nissan Stanza.

The robber is described as a black male in his late teens, 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8, with a slender build. He was wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses.

Oxnard police and FBI agents responded to the scene. David Nesbitt, FBI agent-in-charge for Ventura County, said the robber does not appear from surveillance video to be known to authorities.

According to Nesbitt, the Wells Fargo branch has been robbed before, the last time by a woman. He did not recall when that robbery occurred.
