Education Focus of Forum
A Common Ground series forum, titled “Contested Values: Tug-of-War in the School Yard,” will be held Wednesday at the Mission Viejo Library.
The forum is designed to allow parents and other residents to share their common--and diverse--views on public education.
“Sometimes parents find that they do not have a voice, or are timid and not ready to attend a school board meeting,” City Librarian Valerie Meyer said. “Maybe [after attending the forum] they’ll become more involved with their children’s education.”
Harriet Walther, a Saddleback College instructor, and Jim Roberts, a Monterey Park librarian, will be the moderators.
Topics will include “School Wars: What Values Should Children Learn?,” “Personal Belief and Public Life” and “Christian Traditionalists: Convictions of the Moral Majority.”
The forum is from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Sherri M. Butterfield Community Room, Mission Viejo Library, 25209 Marguerite Parkway. Information: (949) 830-7100, ext. 4002.
