Coach Arrested on Suspicion of Having Sex With Girl Athlete
A Bonita High School social studies teacher and track coach was been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 16-year-old female athlete, police said Thursday.
David Dangleis, 32, of Diamond Bar was arrested Wednesday by La Verne police at his home after the girl’s father complained to the high school principal, authorities said. He was booked on suspicion of sex and oral copulation with a minor, La Verne Police Capt. Chuck Montaya said.
Dangleis was immediately placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation, said Lonnie McConnell, assistant superintendent of the Bonita Unified School District.
Dangleis has been with the school district for 7 1/2 years and previously taught at San Dimas High School.
He is the head track and cross-country coach at Bonita High. He was released on $70,000 bail.
