City Combines 4 Doheny Village Road Projects to Save Construction Costs

Share

In an effort to save as much as 30% in construction costs, the City Council this week combined four road projects in Doheny Village, for a total cost of about $750,000.

As part of the package, the council approved a design contract to improve Doheny Park Road. Work also will take place on Las Vegas Avenue, Domingo Avenue and Victoria Boulevard.

Funds for the projects will come from the city’s 1999-2000 fiscal year budget; construction is expected to begin around that time, according to Robert A. Warren, director of public works and engineering services.

Council members awarded a $65,000 contract for design and engineering work on Doheny Park Road to Robert Bein, William Frost & Associates of Irvine.

The project will include the addition of about 60 queen palms, an irrigation system and other improvements. “It makes more sense to reach a consensus on all of these projects and do them together,” Councilwoman Karen Lloreda said.

Councilwoman Ruby L. Netzley sought another public hearing on the projects.
