L.A. School Board
Re “Belmont Shadows Board Race,” editorial, March 29: Could some one please explain to me the difference between the donations given to school board members Barbara Boudreaux and Jeff Horton and the $1.4 million raised by Mayor Richard Riordan for his candidates? If I remember correctly, I did read in The Times that Riordan’s contribution did come with strings attached.

Re “Promised Campus Turns to Eyesore,” March 29: First it’s the Belmont fiasco and now Jefferson Elementary School. How many more scarecrows are tucked away from the public’s eyes? How many more precious tax dollars that could improve the education of our children have been or are being squandered? And who else has accepted tainted money? It is time to send the current school board members into their deserved oblivion and put in a new team that will be a bona fide board expecting accountability from a superintendent who is charged with responsibility to carry out board policies and from an independent auditor as well.
