Jayson Williams suffered a broken right leg in a fourth-quarter collision with New Jersey Net teammate Stephon Marbury on Thursday night at East Rutherford, N.J., and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Williams, 31, was injured in the final minute of the Nets’ 90-85 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. He was admitted to Hackensack Medical Center late Thursday and will be evaluated today.

X-rays showed that the break occurred around the shin area of Williams’ leg. Doctors could either opt to put the leg in a cast or it might be necessary to repair the leg with surgery.
