* East Orangewood Avenue: A 28-year-old man was in critical condition Sunday at UCI Medical Center in Orange after being shot several times near his home in the 200 block at 5:10 p.m. Saturday. Police ask anyone with information to call (714) 765-1991.

* State College Boulevard: Several teenagers were taken into custody Friday on suspicion of stealing two Katella High School golf carts, one of which was struck by an Amtrak train near the 700 block of East Vermont Avenue at 10:45 p.m. Friday. No one was injured.

* East Birch Street at North Associated Road: A person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at 1:55 a.m. March 29.

* Florence Avenue: Report of a stolen stereo face from an unlocked parked car in the 10300 block at 9:13 a.m. Tuesday.

* West Knepp Avenue: Report of a burglarized 1987 purple Honda Accord in the 200 block at 10:09 a.m. March 29.

GARDEN GROVE

* Pearl Street: Police said that a man posing as an investment broker befriended an elderly woman he met through a dating service, conned her out of $340,000 in cashier’s checks, and fled; reported in the 10000 block Thursday. Officers caught the suspect as he tried to leave a motel.
