Man Charged After Officials Find 5 Bodies
A man arrested Tuesday in the death of one of five men whose decomposing bodies were found in his home had left behind a handwritten card listing the names of the dead and how they could be identified, a prosecutor said.
“It’s pretty clear . . . that that list was left so that whoever found the bodies would be able to know who the victims were and be able to address the matter in a rational manner,” prosecutor Bob Beaird said.
Gary Beach, a 56-year-old limousine driver, was charged with first-degree murder in one of the killings. He was jailed without bond and scheduled for arraignment today.
He is accused in the death of his step-nephew, 45-year-old Kenneth Gulley, who was shot in the face. Beaird would not say how the other men died or why Beach was charged with Gulley’s death and not the others.
All five men had been dead for days. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots from inside the home last week and said the home’s air conditioner had been running nonstop since then in what police believe was an attempt to slow decomposition.
Beach was captured without a struggle Tuesday morning at a hotel parking lot five blocks from the crime scene. He called relatives to let them know his whereabouts and they alerted police.
Beach and all five victims worked in the taxi and limousine business.
