Armstrong Comes to Rescue as Magic Storms Past Knicks

Darrell Armstrong shook off a poor start and made three three-point baskets in the fourth quarter to lead the Orlando Magic past the Knicks, 81-72, Tuesday night at New York for a sweep of the three-game season series.

The Knicks scored only 28 points in the second half after leading, 44-33, at halftime.

Armstrong, who missed 14 of his first 16 shots, finished with 17 points, eight assists, five steals and four rebounds. Penny Hardaway added 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Patrick Ewing had 28 points for the Knicks.

Sacramento 112, Seattle 106--Vlade Divac’s 11 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists included a reverse layup with 1:33 left in overtime to lead the Kings at Seattle. Jason Williams had 21 points for the Kings.

Miami 92, Toronto 70--Alonzo Mourning had 20 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocked shots at Toronto as the Heat snapped the Raptors’ six-game winning streak.

Philadelphia 95, Milwaukee 87--Allen Iverson, playing his first game since a heated exchange with Coach Larry Brown last Friday, scored 27 points and played 46 minutes to lead the 76ers at Philadelphia.

Cleveland 96, Chicago 89--Shawn Kemp scored 25 points and Brevin Knight had 19 points and 15 assists to lead the Cavaliers at Cleveland.

New Jersey 97, Washington 93--Stephon Marbury had 29 points and six assists at Washington as the Nets spoiled the debut of Wizard interim Coach Jim Brovelli, the top assistant who replaced the fired Bernie Bickerstaff on Monday.

Houston 111, Golden State 74--Hakeem Olajuwon had 18 points and 11 rebounds at Houston as the Rockets snapped a two-game losing streak.

Portland 98, Vancouver 89--Walt Williams scored 15 points, including a three-pointer that helped the Trail Blazers hold on at Vancouver, Canada.
