‘Titanic’ Steams to Home Sets; Disney Opens ‘Can of Worms’

This weekend, “Titanic” sets sail on HBO, TNT premieres a new thriller and CBS presents award-winning actor Richard Kiley’s last movie.

The Disney Channel movie “Can of Worms,” Saturday at 7 and 8:35 p.m., follows the adventures of a group of aliens who arrive on Earth to help a teenager.

HBO premieres the box-office titan of all time, “Titanic,” Saturday at 8 p.m. Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Bill Paxton, Gloria Stuart and Kathy Bates star in James Cameron’s 1997 Oscar winner.

The Cartoon Network presents a six-hour marathon of the first four installments of “The Land Before Time” animated movie series, Sunday at noon.

Treat Williams, Carroll O’Connor and Kim Cattrall star in “36 Hours to Die” Sunday at 8 p.m. on TNT.

Sharon Lawrence, Jeffrey Nordling and, in his last film, Kiley star in CBS’ “Blue Moon” Sunday at 9 p.m. The drama deals with former childhood sweethearts struggling with their marriage and dealing with family problems.

UPN presents four episodes of its comedy series “Moesha” tonight at 8.

ABC’s popular “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” moves from 9 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays. The sitcom “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place” joins the “TGIF” lineup at 9 p.m.

Award-winning chef and Mediterranean food authority Joanna Weir hosts a new series, “Cooking in the Wine Country,” Saturday at 11 a.m. on KCET-TV.

Karen Strohbeen hosts a new series, “The Perennial Gardener,” Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on KCET-TV.

The Disney Channel premieres a new reality game show for kids, “Z Games,” Sunday at 5:05 p.m.

“The E! True Hollywood Story” presents a profile of Dennis Hopper at 8 p.m. Sunday on E! Entertainment Television.

Fox premieres “Family Guy,” a new animated series that had a sneak preview after the Super Bowl, Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

VH1’s “Behind the Music” looks at the 30-plus-year career of Cher, at 9 p.m. Sunday.

Filmmaker Michael Moore of “Roger & Me” fame premieres his new series, “The Awful Truth,” Sunday at 10 p.m. on Bravo.

Specials

Professional baseball players take on such actors as Melissa Joan Hart and Ice Cube, on MTV’s “Rock ‘n’ Jock Baseball ‘99” at 2 p.m. Saturday. The game benefits the Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

Tara Lipinski and Brian Boitano are featured on CBS’ “Ice Wars” competition at 8 p.m. Saturday.

NBC presents a “National Geographic” special, “Tigers of Kanha,” Saturday at 8 p.m

Betty White and Richard Karn host the four-hour “Pet Telethon” at 2 p.m. Sunday on KCOP. The nonprofit L.A. chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is sponsoring the special.

The Learning Channel’s “Secret History of the Presidency,” Sunday at 6 and 9 p.m., features presidential experts and historians chatting about the former chief executives. Following at 7 and 10 p.m. is “The Plot to Kill Lincoln.”
