The Phoenix Coyotes lost center Jeremy Roenick indefinitely after their top scorer suffered a broken jaw in the first period of Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Stars.

Stars defenseman Derian Hatcher leveled Roenick with a check in the opening period.

Hatcher received a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct. Hatcher’s check was the aftermath of the previous meeting between the teams on March 23 when Roenick knocked Dallas’ high-scoring center Mike Modano out of the game on a hit away from the puck.
