The Kings said Friday that they would delay the start of Sunday’s game against St. Louis, the Great Western Forum finale, so that fans could see Wayne Gretzky’s retirement ceremony on the video board.

The game, scheduled for noon, will start at 12:15 p.m.

The Kings missed making the playoffs, but not all of their players have.

Defensemen Jaroslav Modry and Jan Nemecek, wingers Jason Podollan and Pavel Rosa and goalie Ryan Bach will return to the Long Beach Ice Dogs for the IHL playoffs, which begin next week.

“It’s the most exciting time for you,” Modry said. “You play not just for yourself, but for the team. It’s something you remember for the rest of your life.”

Modry played in the AHL for the Calder Cup champion Albany River Rats.

Luc Robitaille has played in all 81 games and, if he plays Sunday, would become the first King to play the entire season since Rob Blake and Darryl Sydor in the 1993-94 season.
