UCI Opens Playoffs Against 49ers
The UC Irvine men’s volleyball team will play at Long Beach State Saturday in the first round of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament.
Irvine (14-10 overall, 11-8 in conference), ranked ninth in the nation, defeated second-ranked Long Beach (20-2, 17-2) March 31 at Irvine.
The tournament semifinals are April 29 and the final May 1.
The MPSF tournament winner advances to the NCAA championship tournament May 6-8 at UCLA.

Chris Oeding and Tony Azevedo each scored three goals to help the U.S. National men’s water polo Southern training squad defeat UCLA, 11-4, in an exhibition match Sunday at Corona del Mar High. Sean Kern scored two goals for UCLA.
