Huntington Beach 3, No. 6 Esperanza 2 (8 innings)--Shaun Donahoe singled with one out in the bottom of the eighth to drive in Matt Berry and win it for host Huntington Beach (8-8, 3-5). Starting pitcher Justin Keadle pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Oilers, striking out seven and giving up three hits.

In the Empire League:

No. 9 Katella 5, No. 2 El Dorado 4--Mike Martinez threw a complete game and went two for three with two RBIs for Katella (15-4, 7-1), which moved into a tie for first with the El Dorado.

Martinez gave up two earned runs and struck out seven.

In the Garden Grove League:

No. 8 Los Amigos 5, Rancho Alamitos 1--Pitchers Tim Millar and Bishop Griggs (1-1), threw a combined two-hitter and struck out 14 for Los Amigos (15-3, 5-1).

In the Golden West League:

No. 1 Servite 3, Ocean View 1--Senior Joe Schaefer pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up three hits for Servite (15-2, 8-0).

In the South Coast League:

No. 3 Mater Dei 8, Capistrano Valley 7 (8)--Kellan McConnell’s grand slam in the top of the seventh tied the score, 7-7, but Mater Dei won it in the eighth on an RBI single by Pat Manning. The Monarchs (12-4, 7-1) remain tied for first.

No. 5 Trabuco Hills 6, Mission Viejo 3--Steve Sirbu’s two-run triple in the sixth broke a 3-3 tie for Trabuco Hills (13-5, 7-1). Eric Bowden (5-1) went the distance, striking out eight, for the win.

In Sea View League golf:

No. 2 Santa Margarita 193, Corona del Mar 200--Junior Steve Conway made two birdies and shot par to lead host Santa Margarita (10-1, 5-1). John Kwon of Corona del Mar was medalist, shooting a one-under 35.

In nonleague golf:

No. 3 Brea 366, No. 1 University 373--Senior Brad Oh had seven birdies and shot a five-under 66 to help lead Brea Olinda (12-2) to the victory. Oh’s two-day score was shot on Rancho San Joaquin and Western Hills (par 71).

In South Coast League softball:

No. 4 Dana Hills 6, Capistrano Valley 1--Loren Thornburg (10-3) pitched five innings, giving up one hit and striking out eight, for Dana Hills (18-3-1, 2-0-1).

San Clemente 3, Trabuco Hills 0--Pitcher Nikki Shanafelt (6-2), threw a shutout for 5 1/3 innings to pick up the victory. Christie Bennett and Shanafelt went two for three with an RBI to lead host San Clemente (12-7-1, 1-1-1).

In Sea View League boys’ swimming:

No. 2 Irvine 89, No. 6 Santa Margarita 78--Anchor swims by Gonny Shimura in the 200 freestyle relay and Jeff Natalizio in the 400 free relay were key in Irvine’s victory. Shimura also won the 200 individual medley and Natalizio was a winner in the 100 butterfly.

In Sea View League girls’ swimming:

No. 1 Irvine 123, No. 6 Santa Margarita 45--Former Olympian Amanda Beard of Irvine swam a county-best time and set a school record in the 100 butterfly (57.32).
