Highlight Reel: At a hockey camp somewhere, sometime this summer, a right-thinking coach is going to trot out videotape of Detroit’s power play, and happy campers are going to try to count the shots fired by Larry Murphy and Nicklas Lidstrom. Somehow Guy Hebert stops every one of them. So what? Detroit merely runs the first power-play unit onto the ice, and the camping kids will see Chris Chelios pass to Mathieu Dandenault, who sends it to Steve Yzerman for his fourth goal of the series. Yes, it is this easy.

It’s Not in the Summary: The Ducks are on a power play of their own, and they have the best record in the NHL in that department. And they get a good shot by Fredrik Olausson, which taxes Osgood, though not enough to make him lose his shutout. It’s the only Duck shot on the five-on-four, and the Red Wings manage two, including Kris Draper’s breakaway that Hebert handles with difficulty. Power? What power?

Winning Number: It’s one, which is the number of shots Paul Kariya has through two periods. This, from the most prolific shooter in the NHL this season.

Wrong Number: It’s 1-714-704-2701. Channel 9 viewers are invited to call to order season tickets for 1999-2000 at the Pond of Anaheim. It’s 5-0, and the Ducks are selling tickets to watch more train wrecks. Question: Do television producers watch the games they are producing? Then again, between periods Channel 9 shows a promo for the Jerry Springer Show. Same thing.
