Service for 2 Slain Men to Be Held
A memorial service for two men slain in Irvine last week will be held Saturday.
Friends of piano teacher Guy Thomas Whitney, 60, and pianist Lawrence Wong, 51, said they wanted to bring closure to the horrific deaths. The two were found dead July 27 in their home in Rancho San Joaquin.
“Both families are having funeral services in Los Angeles,” said Wayne Kempe, a friend of Whitney’s who is helping organize the service. “We wanted to give friends and former students in Orange County a chance to commemorate Tom and Larry.”
Kempe said that all are welcome to attend the service, which will begin at 4 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Messiah, 614 N. Bush St., Santa Ana.
In lieu of flowers, donations for scholarship funds should be made to the Los Angeles Harbor College, where Wong was a teacher, as well as the Orange County Federation of Lesbian, Gay and AIDS Support Organizations.
