Freeway Project to Begin This Week

Share

A construction project to ease traffic at Seaward Avenue and the Ventura Freeway is scheduled to begin Wednesday.

An $8.6-million state Department of Transportation project involves widening the northbound freeway on- and offramps at Seaward Avenue, and realigning the southbound onramp.

A new, 225-foot-long, 106-foot-wide freeway bridge at Seaward Avenue will also be built, with two lanes in each direction with left-turn pockets.

The project is expected to be completed by spring 2002.

Once construction begins, partial freeway closures will be in place weeknights from midnight to 6 a.m. and on Saturday and Sunday nights from midnight to 7 a.m.

Ramp closures will occur during evening hours throughout the week as needed but not before or during legal holidays.

Detour routes will be posted when full freeway closures are necessary to accommodate re-striping of lanes and bridge removal.

C.A. Rasmussen Inc. of Simi Valley is the contractor.
