Share

“Stop the violence” is the message the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council is hoping to project this week with a solidarity march and a symbolic campaign to shine a “light of love” on hate and fear.

On Sunday, a march will initiate the council’s weeklong “Turn on a Love Light” campaign. The council is asking people to turn on porch lights from Sunday through Aug. 29 to demonstrate goodwill and love for all people and opposition to hatred, fear and violence.

The march against hate will begin at 2 p.m. at Em Habanim Synagogue, 7533 Fallbrook Ave., and end about one mile away at Shadow Ranch Park, across the street from the West Valley Jewish Community Center at 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills. A rally will be held at the park following the march. For more information call (818) 718-6460, ext. 3007.
