Gun Shows
* Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard Parks’ and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky’s attacks on gun shows are just another example of guilt by association and blaming the sword for the hand that holds it.
So what if the shooters at the North Hollywood Bank of America bought their rifles at the Pomona Fairplex gun show? Nobody at a gun show forced them to illegally modify their weapons to shoot fully automatic. Nobody at a gun show forced them to rob a bank. And nobody at a gun show forced them to get into a shootout with police.
Gun availability has less to do with crime than the availability of criminals and nut cases. I live in a city that has no gun shops and actively discourages anyone from opening gun-related businesses, and we have the worst crime rate in Ventura County.
