Public Invited to Discuss Redevelopment Project

The Northeast Valley Project Area Committee, a 16-member elected body created to advise the Community Redevelopment Agency on a redevelopment plan proposed for the area, would like the public to participate in a meeting Monday.

The 6:30 p.m. meeting at 7817 Lankershim Blvd. will be a chance for residents to offer their views on how to eliminate blight through the redevelopment project area, which would be the largest in the city.

“It is imperative that the CRA and area citizens establish a partnership,” Jim Leahy, first vice chair of the project committee, said in a news release.

“If the project is not well planned, it could have the opposite effect of what it hopes to achieve, leading to lower property values and higher taxes. Without input from local citizens, the promises of a revitalized San Fernando Valley ring hollow.”
