SPECIAL TOTHE TIMES

A Beverly Hills purveyor of upscale handbags recently liquidated its stock. Harper’s bought it and the deals are hard to believe.

Crocodile overnighters that retailed for $1,000 are marked at $150. Some Judith Leiber look-a-likes that were selling for $90 are $19.99. Italian leather handbags retailing for $60-$200 are down to $12-$49.

There are lots of interesting beaded pieces, including handbags that usually retail for $180 now priced at $19.99. Beaded picture frames are $9.99, down from $75, and pillows (also beaded) that once sold on Rodeo Drive for $230 are $19.99. A great chance to do some very upscale gift buying.

Apart from the merchandise from this liquidation purchase, Harper’s has an array of upscale contemporary women’s apparel at below-wholesale prices.

A hand-painted silk pantsuit that wholesales for $140 (meaning it probably retails for about $280) is tagged at $49.95.

Who wouldn’t like the silk T-shirts for both men and women for $13.99 that usually sell for about $50? Sizes on the women’s apparel run S, M, L and 1X-3X.

Harper’s, 8588 W. Washington Blvd., Culver City. (310) 839-8507.
