Olbermann Got His Shot, Now They Get Theirs

Share

In response to Keith Olbermann’s Aug. 21 letter knocking Larry Stewart for criticizing Claudia Trejos, I want to offer a couple of points.

First, Stewart wasn’t writing about Jim Hill.

Also, to insinuate that Stewart has something against Trejos because of her sex or ethnic heritage is ridiculous. Trejos simply cannot speak English well enough to be on a major independent like KTLA. There are plenty of women and minorities of various ethnic backgrounds all over TV. They are quite competent in their ability to speak English.

It is obvious that the only reason Trejos was hired was because she is female and of Latin descent.

I have one question for Olbermann. If you spoke exactly like Trejos, would you (a white male) ever have gotten your foot in the door?

Once Ms. Trejos shows she is capable of doing real sports interviews, I’m sure she’ll have no problem signing on with Fox Sports West, co-anchoring with Olbermann and sharing billboard space with him throughout the city . . . provided his ego will permit it.

During all of these years, including those at KTLA, Olbermann has tried to cloak his lack of ability as a sportscaster with a mixture of so-called comedy, sarcasm and indifference. His recent distorted comparison of Jim Hill to Claudia Trejos is like comparing New York Yankee baseball with that of Visalia.

I found Keith Olbermann’s letter about Claudia Trejos quite amusing. The most annoying sports anchor in L.A. history coming to the defense of the worst sports anchor in L.A. history--what are the chances of that?
