11-Year-Old Girl Injured in Crash Dies

An 11-year-old girl who sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision on Valentine Road last week has died.

Laylah Seeman-Bell of Santa Barbara died Monday night at Ventura County Medical Center, where she had been in critical condition with major head trauma and internal injuries since the Nov. 21 accident, Ventura Police Lt. Don Arth said.

The girl’s mother, Teri Seeman-Bell, 29, had been driving west on Valentine when she crossed over the median and collided head-on with a car driven by Manuel Guzman of Oxnard, police said.

The mother had sustained unspecified injuries. She was admitted to the hospital in fair condition the day of the accident. Another daughter, 2-year-old Nedia, received minor injuries.

Guzman’s 7-year-old daughter Guadalupe suffered a broken leg.

Police are still investigating the crash. Toxicology reports on the mother are pending.
